Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office jailer arrested following smuggling investigation

A former correctional officer was arrested after being accused of bringing contraband into the parish jail. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office arrested 21-year-old Tajah Phillips after receiving multiple tips alleging Phillips was selling and providing illegal items to inmates at the jail. An investigation confirmed the allegations and Phillips was immediately terminated from her position and arrested on Tuesday. Phillips is charged with bringing contraband into a correctional facility and abuse of office. She has been a correctional officer with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office since June 2024.
