Family of Johnston County woman killed in pedestrian accident seeks answers

TISHOMINGO, Okla. (KXII) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 46-year-old Carla Johnson was struck and killed by a vehicle last Thursday morning while walking along US 377 and Prairie Road north of Tishomingo.

“It happened so fast and you're never prepared for something like that,” said Carla's brother Dustin Johnson.

OHP told News 12 the driver responsible has not yet been found. Agents are asking anyone with information to contact police.

“I don't blame anyone, accidents happen, but if you know something, just say it and give the family some peace,” Johnson added.

Carla's family says she was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and loved spending time with her loved ones and creating memories.

“She was always either at work or busy with the kids and grandkids, that was her life now, she took care of them,” Johnson said.

“At a lot of gatherings, like holidays and stuff, we come over or she comes over,” said Carla's daughter Whitney Christie.

Carla's family is hosting a charity spaghetti dinner next Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Tishomingo Community Center to raise money for her funeral.

“The community, the family, everyone came together to make this happen,” Johnson said.

They say they know accidents can happen, but they just want answers.

“You never know what's going to happen from day to day, you have to keep your family together, but she was the glue that held us all together,” Johnson explained.
