Cause of gas leak in Oconomowoc not yet determined | Oconomowoc News

OCONOMOWOC – About an hour after a two-block radius was evacuated Tuesday following the report of an active high-pressure gas leak near the intersection of West South and South Elm streets, residents were allowed to return.

According to the Western Lakes Fire District, a two-block radius near West South Street and South Elm Street was evacuated late Tuesday morning and a five-block danger and warning zone was established.

Crews from We Energies and the Oconomowoc Police Department were also on site during the incident.

“Due to the extreme heat, we are very grateful to our partners for mutual aid on site. Also to our partners for mutual aid who support us in covering other operations in the district,” the WLFD said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

The cause of the gas leak was not disclosed on Tuesday.
