Brawl at New Jersey restaurant Red Horse caught on video – NBC New York

A brawl at an upscale New Jersey hotspot may have looked like something out of a reality show, but will have very real consequences after a customer was nearly stabbed with a steak knife.

A video showing the wild scene from inside the Red Horse restaurant in Rumson has been circulating on social media since the incident on Thursday.

The suspect, 75-year-old David Gulley of Florida, attacked a customer, according to police. Gulley was holding a steak knife when the fight broke out, police said.

Officers who arrived at the scene said they also saw Gulley hitting a manager.

What sparked the chaotic brawl? According to police, wine was spilled on the wife of the man Gulley was chasing.

The victim injured his hand in the chaos but refused medical treatment.

Gulley now faces a number of charges, including aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, terroristic threats and disturbing the peace. He was issued a summons and released.

The restaurant is owned by celebrity chef David Burke, who said in a statement: “Overall, this was a small, if admittedly unusual, incident that my staff handled very well. I am proud of them. They did exactly what they should have done – they stepped in to defuse the situation and called the police.”
