Man arrested for attempted rape at Amtrak station in Fairfield – NBC Bay Area

Authorities in Fairfield arrested a man on suspicion of sexual assault at a train station on Tuesday, the department said.

At approximately 11:19 a.m., police received a call about a woman in distress at the Fairfield/Vacaville Amtrak station on Vanden Road in Fairfield. Police were told it was a sexual assault.

A nearby school security officer responded immediately and arrived within three minutes of the call, according to police. He intervened and pursued the fleeing suspect, whom he arrested near the station tunnel.

Terrance Royston, 53, was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail on suspicion of numerous sex crimes.

The female victim and her husband, who was also allegedly physically attacked by Royston, were taken to a local hospital.

Investigators believe that shortly before the alleged attacks, Royston attempted to rob a passenger getting off the train.

According to jail records, Royston is being held without bail on suspicion of attempted murder, attempted rape by force or intimidation, assault causing great bodily harm, robbery, oral sex by force or intimidation, assault causing attempted rape and kidnapping for the purpose of committing robbery.
