Malavet faces a dozen counts of sexual assault and was arrested in 2021 as part of a broader criminal investigation into abuse at the former youth development center in Manchester.

While on the witness stand, Maunsell told the jury that she tried to reject Malavet's advances but felt cornered.

“I remember having this terrible feeling that this was never going to end,” she said. “It's never going to stop. It's going to keep happening the same way every time.”

In 2021, Maunsell filed a separate civil lawsuit against the state of New Hampshire.

During cross-examination, the defense pressed Maunsell with questions about her memories of the alleged assaults and why she did not make the allegations until two decades later.

The trial is scheduled to continue on Wednesday.
