21-year-old motorcyclist from Bend seriously injured in rollover accident on Bend Parkway; police expect him to survive

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — A 21-year-old Bend man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on the Bend Parkway Tuesday night, but police expect him to survive.

Officers responded to the reported crash in the southbound lanes of the parkway near Reed Lane around 7:25 p.m., said Sheila Miller, communications manager for the Bend Police Department.

According to witnesses, the motorcycle apparently rolled several times and the rider was thrown from the motorcycle down an embankment on the west side of Park Street, Miller said.

Bend Police officers provided initial medical aid until Bend Fire & Rescue paramedics arrived on scene.

Miller said the motorcyclist, who was reportedly wearing a helmet, was taken to St. Charles Bend and is expected to survive.

Oregon State Police are also investigating the crash, which closed both southbound lanes of the Bend Parkway for about 30 minutes. One lane remained closed until shortly before 9 p.m.
