Chase ends with accident near the Armstrong Tunnel in Pittsburgh

Several cars were involved in a crash at the Armstrong Tunnel following a chase on Tuesday. Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release that two people face multiple charges related to the chase, while another suspect is still at large. The crash occurred on the Second Avenue side of the tunnel. Pittsburgh and state police vehicles were on the scene. The nearby 10th Street Bridge was temporarily closed because of the crash investigation. Pittsburgh's Action News 4 saw one person in a police car at the scene and a white Jeep with front-end damage being towed. Troopers spotted a white Jeep Cherokee reported stolen in Wilkinsburg on Interstate 376, according to Trooper Rocco Gagliari. A chase ensued, taking police and the suspects through downtown Pittsburgh. The Jeep struck several vehicles downtown before colliding with a vehicle with passengers on Second Avenue. All those involved in the crash were treated for minor injuries. Gagliardi said three men fled the Jeep on foot. Two of the men — Jahil Parker and an unidentified boy — were taken into custody. They face several charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. The third suspect has not yet been located. Police said there was no immediate threat to the public. One of the suspects reportedly discarded a firearm while fleeing police. That gun was recovered and determined to be stolen. Sky 4, Pittsburgh's only news helicopter, flew over the crash scene around 4:30 p.m. and saw that traffic had resumed in the crash area.

All those involved in the accident were treated for minor injuries.

The third suspect has not yet been found. Police said there was no immediate danger to the public.

One of the suspects allegedly threw away a firearm while fleeing from the police. The weapon was confiscated and it was determined that it was stolen.

Sky 4, Pittsburgh's only news helicopter, flew over the accident site at about 4:30 p.m. and found that traffic had resumed in the crash zone.
