Taylor Swift fan's viral tattoo mishap turns into comedy – READ MORE

One of the most loyal fan bases in the world is that of Taylor Swift. Sometimes referred to as Swifties, they show an obsessive devotion to this already successful artist. They do this by repeatedly listening to her music, going to her sold-out performances, and interacting with her online. However, sometimes some fans overdo it. They tag themselves with pictures of the pop singer. However, this only leads to internet harassment and not admiration.

According to Netflix Junkie, a fan recently uploaded a picture of herself with a tattoo of Taylor Swift. It must be reassuring for the pop diva that the tattoo artist created “more than just an image.” The result in this case was so horrific and so poorly executed that it found its way onto a subreddit dedicated to the most horrifically botched tattoos. It was posted with the caption “Should be Taylor Swift” and was immediately ridiculed. The tattoo didn't so much make the singer's fans look like her as it did baffle them.

The tattoo, which was supposed to be a sign of respect, is actually an example of the worst kind of tattoo you can get. Users flocked to the Reddit thread, showing off numerous hilarious designs. Some questioned why the portrait resembles various stars and includes elements of Taylor Swift's facial features, while others pointed out that the image looks more like a failed sketch than an image painted on someone's body.

Swift fans are often pretty fervent defenders, and even they have poked fun at the tattoo. One user joked that one side of the tattoo looks good when viewed alone; the other side combined with it doesn't have a good effect. Another user jokingly referred to the tattoo in question as “One Anya Taylor-joyless,” as if the names Taylor Swift and Anya Taylor-Joy had more in common.

Because Taylor Swift is used to appeasing her audience with different variations of her music, this version received no recognition as a tattoo. Rather, it proved to be a cautionary tale of the importance of being careful when choosing a tattoo. For the fan who got the tattoo, it may be a word of advice to thoroughly check out the artist's works before committing to a permanent skin disfigurement. For the rest of us, it may simply be a realization that not every tribute is successful.
