Riverside County deputy sheriff among three injured in Mead Valley crash

An accident in Mead Valley injured three people, including a Riverside County sheriff's deputy.

MEAD VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) — Three people, including a Riverside County sheriff's deputy, were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Mead Valley Tuesday evening.

The accident involved a sheriff's patrol unit and occurred shortly before 10 p.m. near the intersection of Brown and Oakwood streets, according to a CHP traffic accident report.

Two people in the civilian vehicle were reportedly trapped and had to be freed by firefighters. They were taken to hospital with serious injuries, and their white vehicle was on its side and badly damaged.

The officer involved in the accident was also taken to hospital; his condition is unknown. Images from the scene of the accident showed the patrol car on the side of the road with severe front damage.

What caused the crash is unclear.
