Spider-Man 4 Possible Release Date, Cast and More

Spider Man 4 has not been officially announced yet, but there is no need to worry about Tom Holland returning as Spider-Man.

In July 2024, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed that he was working on it with longtime Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal. “We have writers who will give us a draft relatively soon,” he added.

The fourth film, however, will likely see changes behind the scenes, with Feige saying that Jon Watts – who directed the first three films – “has a lot going on right now.”

After Spider-Man: No Way Home became one of the greatest films of all time, it always seemed very likely that this was not the end.

Sony wants to make more Spidey movies with Holland and he wants to return. However, no one is rushing into it. In April 2024, Holland confirmed that they are continuing to develop the story to get it right.

This means that all the rumors you hear Spider Man 4 – which seem to come every week – are nothing more than that… rumors.

But while we wait for official news, here is everything you need to know about Spider Man 4.

Sony Pictures

Possible release date of Spider-Man 4: When will Spider-Man 4 be in theaters?

Spider Man 4 may be in development at Sony and Marvel, but the release date (as of August 2024) has not yet been confirmed.

Previously, there were two years between the Spider Man Movie in the MCU, but obviously we didn’t get Spider Man 4 in December 2023, so we are prepared for a longer wait.

Sony has set a release date for an untitled film in the Spider-Man universe, June 27, 2025. So that's a possible date for the return of the web-slinger played by Tom Holland.

However, the time seems too short, especially since Holland was busy on the West End stage with Romeo and Juliet until early August 2024. It's not impossible that filming will start this year, but we wouldn't blame him if he needed a little break.

All we can do is monitor the situation and keep you updated with any news.

Spider-Man 4 Cast: Will Tom Holland Return as Spider-Man?

At first, Tom Holland was understandably a bit hesitant about his future as Peter Parker.

After the release of Spider-Man: No Way Homehe said: “Maybe it's time for me to move on. I also have to consider Peter Parker because he is an important part of my life,” adding: “When I play Spider Man If I'm 30, I've done something wrong.”

However, he clarified these quotes by saying: “I do not know what the future of Spider Man looks. I don't know if I'll be there. Spider Man will always live on in me, and I know that [producer] Amy [Pascal] and the studio are excited to see how the next chapter of Spider Man looks like.

“If that's the case for me, then that's very exciting, but you know, when it's time for me to go, I'll do it with pride.”

In December 2023, he added that a fourth film would not be made “just to make another one.”

“It has to be worth it for the character,” Holland explained. “But if we find out, I'd be a fool not to put the suit back on, because I owe everything to Spider-Man.”

There is always the possibility that Holland will take on the role of a mentor for a new Spider-Man (maybe Miles Morales), but there are no teasers for this in No way home So we can only speculate at the moment.

We could imagine Zendaya and Jacob Batalon returning as MJ and Ned respectively, but at the end of No way homeno one remembers that Peter is Spider-Man.

This could mean that MJ and Ned won't be in a possible fourth film, although we're only speculating at the moment. As of April 2024, Batalon had no idea whether or not he would return.

“I don't know what the future holds for all of them in this world. I just think if things happen, they happen. I hope so. I certainly hope so. It's sad that he doesn't have any friends left,” he said. ComicBook.com.

Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) doesn't know Peter now either, but he knows Spider-Man, so he might be back.

One person who definitely won't be there is Marisa Tomei, as Aunt May is tragically killed by the Green Goblin. While the multiverse does offer the possibility of an alternate Aunt May (like the alternate Spider-Men), we don't think that will happen.

It is also unlikely that Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire would return to their roles, as their brief but significant appearance in No way home is corrected as the plot reseals the multiverse.

However, they now have official MCU names: “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” (Maguire) and “The Amazing Spider-Man” (Garfield). So who says they can’t make another visit to the MCU?

Garfield would certainly be up for another team-up film, as long as the story requires it: “It would have to be something very unique, very special that serves the audience and serves the character.”

Kirsten Dunst was not asked to return as Mary-Jane Watson for No way homebut has always openly stated that she would have “reprising” the role. Could we see that in a new film? Let's hope so.

Could we see Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and Venom in the fourth film? He appears in No way home End credits scene, but is returned to his own universe. (More on him later.)

Spider-Man 4 Plot: Is No Way Home the Setup for Spider-Man 4?

Short answer: not really. The climax ends the trilogy and leaves a blank slate for the future. The possibilities for this new film are endless.

In a possible fourth film, anything he wants can happen: whether it's Peter training a new Spider-Man, whether it's a standalone adventure in which he faces a new villain, or whether it's something completely different.

“At the end of the film we just shot, you see Spider-Man make a momentous decision, one that you've never seen him make before. It's a sacrifice. And that gives us a lot of material for the next film,” Pascal revealed. The New York Times.

One possible option is to bring a long-awaited battle between Spider-Man and Venom to the big screen. As we see in the Poison 2 In the end credits scene, Eddie Brock and Venom are transported to the MCU.

The reason for this is Doctor Strange's failed spell, which he corrects in the end, meaning Eddie and Venom return to their universe. However, part of the Venom symbiote remains behind, so it could take over someone in the MCU.

The first trailer for Poison 3 (also known as Venom: The Last Dance) is an allusion to the end of No way homebut it is not revealed whether there are further connections between the Poison Saga and the MCU.

It was also confirmed that this film is the last Poison Film, but whether this will also be Tom Hardy's last appearance as Venom remains to be seen.

No way home was also a funny reference to Ned's villainous role as the Hobgoblin in the comics.

We think it's unlikely we'll see this on screen, but stranger things have happened in the MCU.
