Local man arrested for stalking and harassing underage teenager





West Plains, Missouri. – Recently, a local man was arrested for stalking and harassing a 17-year-old girl. 39-year-old Sheldon Wilkening is charged with three counts of first-degree stalking and one count of second-degree harassment.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a woman contacted West Plains Police and reported that her 17-year-old daughter was being followed by a male offender identified as Sheldon Wilkening. This 17-year-old female is the victim of a previous second-degree harassment case involving Wilkening. On October 6, 2024, he accepted a deal for 2 years of unsupervised probation and no contact with the victim.

The 17-year-old victim reported that she saw Wilkening drive by her several times while she was walking at the West Plains Municipal Golf Course. She stated that he allegedly stopped near her, recorded videos of her, and took photos of her. The victim stated that she also saw him drive by her several times in town, where he stopped and waved at her. The last thing she reported was that Wilkening would like all of her content on social media. During the interview, police noticed the victim began to cry and reported that his behavior made her nervous and she was afraid to leave her home for fear that he would try to contact her.

Sheldon Wilkening is being held on $5,000 bail.
