Bald eagle tries to take off from the ground. He is not injured – just “too fat to fly”!

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri (KKTV) – When game wardens in Missouri found a bald eagle trying to take off from the ground, they feared it was injured.

It turned out it was just too thick to fly!

The eagle was first spotted earlier this month on the edge of Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. The Missouri Department of Conservation captured the bird and took it to the nearby Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield for x-rays.

The X-rays showed that the bald eagle was perfectly healthy – it was just the victim of a large lunch!

“The bird, originally reported injured, turned out to be healthy but was stuffed with raccoon meat,” said a Facebook post from Wilson's Creek National Battlefield that has since gone viral:

The bald eagle has now digested its meal and flown on – at least until its next all-you-can-eat buffet!
