Hawthorn man allegedly attacked woman and pushed her into his car

HAWTHORN BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A local man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman and then pushing her into his vehicle against her will.

Court records show that the Southern Clarion County Regional Police Department (SCCRPD) has filed criminal charges against the 25-year-old. Devin Gordon Mancusoof Hawthorn, in the office of District Judge Jeffrey Miller on Monday, August 26.

According to a criminal complaint, on Saturday, August 24, at approximately 6:15 p.m., SCCRPD received a report of a kidnapping near Brookville Street in Hawthorn Borough, Clarion County.

It was reported that a woman and her boyfriend were arguing and yelling. A woman then screamed to call the police and said she needed help. The caller noticed Devin Mancuso He forced the woman into his vehicle and drove away while the woman continued to scream for help, the complaint says.

Police received a vehicle description of a large gray truck with a trailer and a side-by-side on the trailer. Police were also informed they may have been on their way to a business owned by the victim's family, the complaint states.

Officers headed to the area. On the way, officers noticed a large gray truck with a trailer and a side-by-side attached to it. Officer Robert Kelly stopped and saw a group of people standing near the vehicle. He asked where the woman was and the group pointed to a field where there was a campground. Officer Kelly asked who was in the truck and one of the people pointed Devin Mancusosays the complaint.

When asked what happened, Mancuso said the woman was very drunk and fell in the shower. He then told officers to “look at the blood,” the complaint states.

Officer Kelly told him he forcibly pushed her into the vehicle and then drove away with her inside. Mancuso responded that the woman wanted to leave and go to her family, the complaint continues.

One of the people on scene made contact with the woman and asked her to come to the area to speak with police. Mancuso was extremely upset and agitated, and officers could tell he had been drinking, the complaint states.

A short time later, a woman accompanied the victim to Officer Kelly. The victim was crying and visibly shaking and distraught. She reported that she and Mancuso had been arguing in the shower and he had slammed her head against the edge of the shower, causing her to have a cut on her lip that was bleeding, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, the victim ran out of the house, away from Mancuso, and outside, where they were still arguing. The victim stated that Mancuso began grabbing her and violently shoving her into the truck. She stated that after the attack, she was afraid of him and did not want to go with him. She said that she screamed to call the police, but Mancuso pushed her into the truck and drove away while she continuously screamed that she needed help.

The victim further stated that when Mancuso stopped her, she got out and fled, the complaint states.

Mancuso was arraigned on Saturday, August 24, at 10:15 p.m. before District Judge Timothy Schill on the following charges:

  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
  • Deprivation of liberty, misdemeanor 2

He was released from the Clarion County Jail on Monday, August 26th after a professional surety posted a $100,000.00 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 3 at 1:15 p.m., with Judge Schill presiding.
