In Westport, on Broadway Boulevard, a historic stone building found new owners and new life.

The building in downtown Kansas City has been a meeting place for church services and weddings for over 100 years.

Now there are new spaces curated for a new generation that have attracted more than 130,000 people to their social media sites.

The building, known as Broadway Church for over 100 years, was abandoned and for sale when Johnny and Abby Youssef purchased the building.

The couple knows that the building has countless stories to offer and wanted to create a space for a new generation of people and their stories.

“We are restoring something beautiful, we are adding value to our city, we are bringing history back to the place where all these exciting emotions gather,” said Johnny Youssef.

They realized that many people wanted to see the story of renovating a historic church and follow that path.

Although Johnny wasn't a social media star, he had a passion for sharing.

“I just think the story is worth telling,” he said.

Millions viewed her social media content and it quickly went viral.

“We bought it in April 2022, two months before our wedding,” he said. “We thought it was going to be a six-month project.”

More than two years and $3 million later, the Melrose Abbey venue was completed.

Abby Youssef was responsible for the interior design.

The Youssefs also took care to accurately represent history when redesigning the building.

“I have collected historical information, documentation and records and even have the original property certificate,” he said.

Now that 40 weddings are already planned there, they can tell their story in person.
