16-year-old girl arrested for Snapchat threat against Cromwell High School

CROMWELL, CT (WFSB) – A Middletown teenager was arrested for making a threat against Cromwell High School on social media.

Cromwell police identified the suspect only as a 16-year-old girl.

They said they were notified of the threat to the school on Wednesday morning.

“This threat was made via Snapchat and an investigation was immediately launched,” Cromwell police said. “Police identified a 16-year-old juvenile from Middletown, Connecticut, as the person who made the threat.”

The girl was referred to juvenile court for disturbing the peace, first-degree threatening and harassment.

Officials said they also confirmed that the teenager was unable to carry out any threats.

“The Cromwell Police Department takes every threat seriously and the safety of the school, students and staff is our utmost concern,” police said. “There is no threat to the public.”
