The fourth season of the crime drama “McDonald & Dodds” is now streaming on BritBox.

In the picturesque city of Bath, Detective Chief Inspector Lauren McDonald (Tala Gouveia) and Detective Sgt. Dodds (Jason Watkins) take on several new and tricky cases in the fourth season. The popular crime drama “McDonald and Dodds” returns to BritBox with three new episodes.

The first episode is about a mystery surrounding a local bus and its passengers after a man mysteriously dies after being strangled on the bus. How could this happen and why did no one notice the attack? What is fascinating about the plot is that it has a connection to the blues – not the colour, but the musical genre.

The history of the blues comes into play, and a special article deals with the birth of the blues. What does a South American style of music have to do with a murder in Bath, England? That is the dilemma facing McDonald, Dodds and their team of investigators.

The second episode revolves around the death of a woman who has been missing for 38 years. Why was she suddenly murdered after all this time? And where has she been for the last 38 years?

The investigation turns to her brother, who reported her missing all those years ago when they were both young. It seems that this man (Toby Stephens) has a dangerous past, and as McDonald and Dodds investigate his past dealings, they believe they have not only found his sister's killer, but also an investigative journalist who was murdered at the same time. The two incidents are definitely connected, but there is more to this story than meets the eye.

The third episode is fascinating. Titled “Wedding Fever,” it sounds like a lighthearted episode, but it's far from that. When dozens of weddings are scheduled for the same day in Bath – it's wedding season, after all – the town finds itself with more than just brides and grooms. They are gripped by a series of murders, all of which take place at weddings.

What is the connection between the weddings? And why does McDonald's dream come into play? It's a strange situation, but one that the duo eventually resolves.

McDonald is a tough detective who reports to Chief Superintendent Mary Ormond (Claire Skinner). Together with Detective Constable Goldie (Charlie Jones), DC Lee (Bhavik C. Pankhania) and Dodds, the team skillfully gathers clues that lead to the arrest of all the killers in the season.

DS Dodds is an unusual character with a certain OCD and a penchant for French fries. He often sees clues that the others don't and is always on top form, even when McDonald is a little overwhelmed by the situation and her life. Dodds remains clear-headed and hardworking.

McDonald & Dodds is an interesting and entertaining crime series, and as the seasons progress, viewers become more familiar with the characters as they develop personally and professionally. At the time of writing, there is no news if the team will return for a fifth season next year. However, fans of the series are eagerly awaiting good news. Since the seasons are short, they want more of their Bath detectives. Stream this series on BritBox.
