Authorities release name of person involved in fatal two-vehicle crash in Polk County

VILLAGE OF LUCK, Wis. (WEAU) – Authorities have released the name of the person killed in a two-vehicle crash in Polk County.

According to an updated press release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the person killed in this accident is 56-year-old William Van Heel of Princeton, Minnesota.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office's initial press release regarding the accident, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff's Office received a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Highway 48 and County Highway I near the Village of Luck.

The press release states that a pickup truck with four passengers was traveling north on County Highway I and failed to stop at a stop sign. The pickup truck collided with an SUV with two passengers traveling east on Highway 48.

According to the press release, a passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
