3 dead, 11 injured in accident in Wise County – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, three people died and eleven others were injured in a serious rollover accident on US Highway 287 in Wise County on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred near the Farm-to-Market Road 1655 exit on 287 northbound in Alvord.

According to Texas DPS, 14 people were thrown from a passenger bus. As of 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, three people were confirmed dead and 11 injured, DPS officials said.

Several ambulances, rescue helicopters, and Alvord police and fire departments responded to the scene of the “mass casualty incident,” Wise County EMS officials said.

No other injuries were reported and no other vehicles were reported to be involved in the accident. The cause of the accident is not yet known.

The road is expected to remain closed for an unknown period of time and motorists have been asked to avoid the area. The Alvord Fire Department said northbound motorists can exit Business 287 and travel through town to rejoin northbound 287.

“Please be careful when driving through the city, there will be a lot of traffic,” the fire department said.
