Kinston Police Arrest Suspect After Shooting at Mitchell Wooten Court — Neuse News

On Monday, August 26, 2024, at approximately 5:35 p.m., the Kinston Police Department's B&D Squad and Investigations Division responded to reports of shots fired in the area of ​​Mitchell Wooten Court. Upon arrival, officers quickly discovered evidence pointing to multiple shooters and secured video footage of the incident. Investigators were able to identify Joshua Wilson, age 33 of Kinston, as one of the suspects, which led to the issuance of arrest warrants.

On Wednesday, August 27, 2024, the KPD SWAT team, in conjunction with other KPD personnel, executed a search warrant on a Mitchell Wooten residence connected to the shooting. During the search, a firearm was discovered and seized in the residence. After the search, Joshua Wilson was found at another location on Mitchell Wooten's property. Although Wilson is not a resident of Mitchell Wooten, he was arrested without further incident and subsequently transported to the Lenoir County Jail on bail. He is facing the following charges:

• Carrying a concealed weapon

• Terrorize the public with armed force

• Firing a firearm in the city

More arrests are expected in connection with this incident in the near future. It is important to note that this incident appears to be unrelated to the previous day's murder.
