IDF announces that St. Sergeant Major Yohay Hay Glam was killed in central Gaza

St. Sgt. Maj. (res.) Yohay Hay Glam was killed in fighting in the Gaza Strip, the IDF announced on Wednesday.

Glam, 32, from Netanya, served in the 6310th Reconnaissance Battalion of the 16th Brigade.

Glam fell in the central Gaza Strip.

He leaves behind a wife, two-year-old twin daughters, parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Sister mourns deceased brother

His sister Ravit told Ynet“My beloved little brother was a hero of Israel,” who also took part in Operation Protective Edge in 2014.

She added: “He was religious and when he heard about the incident on October 7, he ran to his rabbi to get permission to use his phone because it was Shabbat and Chag.”

His sister told the Israeli news agency that after her brother received the permit and recruited his team, he joined the army the same day and has since been serving in the reserves on the northern front.

She further explained that her brother had been given two days' vacation last week: “We took the opportunity to travel together, but I didn't know that this would mean the final separation from him.”

“He checked in again two weeks ago and was supposed to be released on September 12,” his sister said.

The movement said that as an advisor, Glam encouraged movement members to perform meaningful military service and make further contributions to the country.

Fallen soldiers since the beginning of the war

According to the Israeli Defense Forces' count, the death of Sergeant Major Glam brings the total number of soldiers killed on or since October 7 last year to 703.

About 339 of them have been killed since the start of military ground operations in the Gaza Strip on October 27.
