Second mistrial against Gwinnett father over daughter's death

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – The judge presiding over the trial of a Gwinnett County father facing charges in connection with the death of his 8-year-old daughter has declared a mistrial – the second.

Cledir Barros was on trial for child abuse in connection with the death of his daughter Sayra.

Barros was previously on trial for charges related to Sayra's death. In the first trial, a second-degree murder charge against Barros was dropped and a Due to a jury deadlock, a mistrial was declared.

According to investigators, Sayra was beaten to death in January. Investigators said Cledir's wife, Natiela Barros, who is accused of murder, was angry with the eight-year-old and allegedly hit her in the neck 10 to 20 times with a wooden rolling pin.

Natiela did not appear in court with Cledir. Cledir took the stand on Monday, testifying that his wife had admitted to the crime and that he had nothing to do with it.
