Arrest in connection with fatal shooting in Hot Springs on Central Avenue

HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas – Hot Springs police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Officers were reportedly called to the 1300 block of Central Avenue shortly before 2:30 a.m. for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found an unconscious man, later identified as 43-year-old Nicholas Bland, lying in the front yard, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to police.

They immediately initiated life-saving measures until the emergency services arrived. He was then taken to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Dalton Childs and took him to the Hot Springs Police Department for questioning.

Childs was later charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held at the Garland County Detention Center.
