Highlands High School marching band assistant arrested for child pornography

FORT THOMAS, Kentucky – A former assistant for the Highlands High School and Highlands Middle School marching band program has been charged with possession of child pornography.

In a letter to families, Brian Robinson, superintendent of Fort Thomas Independent Schools, said the district had been notified that Kenton County police had arrested Matthew Schnapp for possession and distribution of material depicting sexual conduct involving minors under the age of 12.

Robinson said the district served Schnapp with a letter of termination, effective immediately, after learning of the allegations.

He said it was not known whether the matter involved students at Fort Thomas Independent Schools.

“We urge you to come forward if there are any concerns,” Robinson said. “The district pledges our unconditional cooperation to assist law enforcement in their criminal investigation. Any affected students and families seeking mental and emotional support should contact their school administration.”

Schnapp's arraignment is scheduled for August 29.
