Rey Mysterio reflects on the infamous ‘mind-blowing’ incident at WWE Extreme Rules 2020

WWE Hall of Fame member Rey Mysterio recently spoke about his infamous, eye-catching incident four years ago.

During the pandemic, Mysterio was involved in a heated feud with Monday Night Messiah Seth Rollins. At Extreme Rules 2020, the two faced off in an Eye for an Eye Match.

The fight ended in a bloody and graphic way, as Mysterio's eyeball was hanging out of its socket. Speaking to Sam Roberts at Fanatics Fest, Rey Mysterio spoke about this incident and his performance, which he later described as “silly.”

You kind of have to look at it from the outside. We had a pandemic, we didn't have fans in the building. We were doing something completely different. So I was always on board with whatever we wanted to do next. Just explain to me how we can get it across in a way that makes sense, and at the end of the day, it's television. We know it's not reality. But overall, the way it was explained. Now it sounds funny, sounds silly. Back then, it probably sounded even sillier.

But we thought we can do it, we can get through this. But overall, these are challenges that come your way, and you either go over there, do a good job, and talk about it later, maybe laugh. Or you say, “Oh, that was good,” or “That was bad.” But overall, you have to live in the moment, and you have to kind of fight through it and get it done, one way or another.”

The former US champion said that he was open to anything and wanted to take advantage of this moment.

Rey Mysterio is ready for important agreement in a future rematch with Dominik Mysterio

Mysterio and his son Dominik Mysterio are currently tied, with each of them having tallied both singles and tag team matches with two pinfall victories. While speaking with ComicBook at Fanatics Fest in NYC, Rey Mysterio raised the stakes for their possible future rematch.

If this trilogy comes to pass, and if it does happen, I'm willing to put my mask on the line. And he loves his mullet so much, so I would expect him to put his mullet on the line. That or his Dirty Sanchez (mustache).”

Given the current situation at RAW, fans may soon witness a rematch between the father-son duo.

In other news, WWE will reportedly host a RAW taping in Saudi Arabia.
