Why you should join a gym just for the treadmill

Gyms are like playgrounds, full of fun toys and equipment, so is it wrong, bad or embarrassing to go to a gym? Only to use a specific piece of equipment? Say, the treadmill? Good news: This is a perfectly normal way to use a gym.

You don't have to use every part of the gym

Just because a gym offers cardio, strength training, classes, and a sauna in the same building doesn't mean you have to do all of those things every time you visit. I told You that visiting just for the sauna is not a problem (a great way to spend your rest day) and that coming just for the treadmill is also not a problem.

I promise you're not the only one who comes here just for the treadmill. There are newbies who haven't ventured beyond the treadmill because they haven't yet found the courage to go to the weight room. There are people who lift weights on Monday and Wednesday but jog on Tuesday and Thursday. There are hardcore runners who have to drop their kid off at daycare to get in a run on a busy day. I guarantee you there are dozens, if not hundreds, of people who visit your gym just to jog for a bit and then go home.

I am actually one of them. I am a member of a special gym for weight lifting, but after fell in like with the treadmillI finally joined a cheap commercial gym a few blocks from my house. It's great to have an indoor running option without having to buy a treadmill and find a place for it.

Think of it as renting a treadmill

Don't think you're joining a gym and ignoring the good parts. Think you're paying every month for a treadmill that just disappears when you're not using it.

Let's say you purchase a $14.99 membership at your local Crunch or Planet Fitness. You could use it to jog on a $9,949 Star Trac TreadmillOr maybe it is a $6,709 LifeFitness Treadmill. If you wanted one of these things at home, you would have to pay the equivalent of about $500 in monthly gym memberships. So if you're asking yourself, “Is it worth it?”, the mathematical answer is yes. $15 a month for someone else to take care of the maintenance and storage, and you can still use it anytime? That's definitely going to add up.

Even if you do not use the treadmill regularly, it may be worth it for you to option than running indoors when heat and humidity are at murderous levels, the air quality index is at orange alert, or it's winter and you have to run outside in the dark on icy sidewalks.

However, running (or walking) is not a complete workout

Maybe your guilty conscience when training on the treadmill is related to your training program. only Do you ever run or walk? For the sake of your health, you should try to incorporate strength training into your daily routine. Cardio and strength are both important for health, fitness and everyday life. But if you prefer to do your strength training outside of the gym, that's fine too. The treadmill is still available to you whenever you need it.
