Leo Woodall and Dustin Hoffman play the main roles in the crime thriller “Tuner” by Daniel Roher

EXCLUSIVE: Leo Woodall (Once) and Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man) have committed to play the leading role in tunera new crime thriller directed by Oscar winner Daniel Roher (Navalny), whose Black Bear sales will start at TIFF.

Written by Roher and Robert Ramsey, the film tells the story of a talented piano tuner whose life is turned upside down when he discovers that he can use his meticulous piano tuning skills to crack safes.

JoAnne Sellar and Lila Yacoub will produce the film. Production begins in Toronto in October. Debra Zane is the casting director. Black Bear is representing international rights to the film, while UTA Independent Film Group is representing U.S. rights. Elevation Pictures is co-producing and will also release the film in Canada.

His breakthrough came with the role of Jack in the second season of the HBO series The White LotusWoodall has since played the role of Dex in the romantic drama A dayy, the acclaimed Netflix adaptation of David Nicholls' bestseller. Most recently, he directed James Vanderbilt's NurembergHe will next appear in the new Bridget Jones film Crazy about the boyalso head of the conspiracy thriller series Primary goal for Apple TV+.

Hoffman, a two-time Oscar winner and seven-time nominee, is part of the star ensemble of Francis Ford Coppola's Big citywhich premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and will be released by Lionsgate in September. Most recently, he directed an untitled new film by Peter Greenaway alongside Helen Hunt.

Roher just won an Oscar for the 2022 film. Navalnywhich won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature as well as the Sundance 2022 Festival Favorite Award and the BAFTA Award for Best Documentary Feature. His latest project, Flashwill be released this fall by National Geographic/Disney.
