If you're just getting into the Nintendo Switch ecosystem for the first time, the Switch Lite is a good, affordable option that has some limitations compared to the standard dockable and OLED versions. We reviewed the Switch Lite back in 2019 and had nothing but good things to say about it.

Should you buy refurbished Switch Lite consoles at Walmart?

All Switch Lite consoles we featured above are newbut Walmart also offers some refurbished options that are a bit cheaper. Buying refurbished is a great way to save some money, but given the discounts currently available on newer models, those savings aren't that significant. Customer reviews of refurbished Switch Lite consoles at Walmart are mostly positive, but some users have reported issues. The risk of buying refurbished tech from any online retailer is that you're more likely to run into issues with a used item than with a brand new one.

However, Walmart offers a 90-day return policy on refurbished Switch Lite consoles, so if you experience any issues within the first three months, you can simply send the console back for a full refund. Walmart's policy on refurbished items can be found in the Help section of the Walmart website.

Should you buy now or wait for Black Friday?

There are plenty of Labor Day deals happening right now, but Labor Day weekend isn't necessarily the best time to buy a new Nintendo console. We've already seen better prices on the Nintendo Switch Lite on Prime Day, and the price will likely drop even further on Black Friday this year. However, Walmart currently has the best prices on new Nintendo Switch Lite consoles, so it's still the best place to buy one today. If you don't want to wait until Black Friday season starts or prices drop even further with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, now is generally a good time to buy a Switch.
