Family of Mobile woman accused of murdering her boyfriend speaks

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – For the first time, we hear from the family of a Mobile woman accused of murdering her boyfriend.

Jennifer Heathcoe was arrested last week at an apartment complex off Sollie Road. According to court documents, she is accused of stabbing her boyfriend, Taylor Rawlins, to death.

Heathcoe is being held without bail on another charge in Daphne. Police there say she failed to appear in court on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. Police say Heathcoe and Rawlins got into an argument at a bar. Today, police confirm Rawlins has also been charged with domestic violence in that case.

Today, Heathcoe's uncle, Larry Yawn, told FOX10 News that his niece is not a bad person and we have yet to hear her side of the story.

“Only she knows the story behind it. No one else. She is a sweet, kind, loving and caring person and if you ever met her on the street, you would understand that she is truly a good person,” Yawn said.

On Tuesday, FOX10 News heard from one of Rawlins' friends.

“He was a great man, a great husband, a great father,” Jeff Alison said.

Court records show Heathcoe's next court hearing has been postponed until next week. That's because she is currently in a Covid quarantine in the Mobile Metro, according to her attorney.

Meanwhile, Rawlins' funeral will take place this weekend.
