Men accused of burglary and Ferrari theft in Rhode Island held without bail

Two former men were accused of stealing a Ferrari during an armed home invasion in Rhode Island on Saturday.

Logan Slezak, 18, of Pawtucket, appeared before a judge in Kent District Court on Wednesday, while Jonathan Costa, 19, of Cranston, Florida, was arraigned, where the stolen vehicle was eventually found.

Both men face multiple charges and are being held without bail.

According to a prosecutor, a couple and two minors were in the house at the time of the break-in.

“The couple was awakened at around 3:10 a.m. by a phone call that had nothing to do with this incident – the male resident of the house was using the toilet. The female resident, who was still in bed, turned around and observed the masked and armed people in her bedroom. One of the two men held the gun to the female resident's head and demanded the keys to the Ferrari and the Corvette,” the prosecutor explained in court.

The teenagers apparently sped away in the Ferrari and subsequently led several police chases through at least four different states.

Costa is believed to have driven the sports car to Palm Coast, Florida. Prosecutors said he knew the house in Florida where he was arrested and where the stolen car was found.

Costa is being charged with being a fugitive.

Slezak was not found in Florida and turned himself in to police in Rhode Island on Tuesday.

According to police, it was a targeted break-in and the victims knew at least one of the suspects.

WJAR spoke off-camera with the owner of the vehicle, who said he was concerned that a third suspect might still be out there.
