Qaid Farhan Alkadi reports how he witnessed Hamas murdering hostages

Qaid Farhan Alkadi, who was freed from Hamas captivity on Tuesday in a joint operation by the Israeli Defense Forces and Shin Bet (Israeli domestic intelligence agency), revealed details of his captivity, including being operated on with almost no anesthesia and witnessing the murder of another hostage, N12 reported on Wednesday.

Alkadi told N12 that he was shot in the leg by terrorists on October 7 and that he underwent surgery to remove the bullet from his leg while in captivity.

“The operation was performed almost without anesthesia and was extremely painful. At first I was held in an apartment with other hostages and there was very little to eat.”

Alkadi stated that just weeks after his hostage-taking, terrorists filmed other hostages being held with him. He told N12 that in the video, one could see the hostage dying. The video was filmed but never released by the terrorists. He said that he witnessed the murder of the hostage next to him.

Alkadi said he was allowed to bathe once a month. “Once a month they made me bathe in a pool. I was kept alone in a tunnel, in total darkness.”

About his movements in Gaza, he said: “After about two months, the terrorists took me into a tunnel. There I was alone, surrounded only by terrorists. I could not tell the difference between day and night.”

“The terrorists were masked and mostly gave me slices of bread to eat – there was very little to eat. It was pitch black and I held my hands over my eyes to make sure I could still see; it was that dark,” he told N12.

Alkadi also told N12 the story of his rescue. He said he heard heavy bombings by the Israeli army in Gaza, and that in his last days of captivity, terrorists left him a small piece of bread and escaped. Only later did he hear Hebrew and realize that Israeli soldiers were operating nearby.

Before entering the tunnel where Alkadi was being held, the soldiers carried out operations and actions that led to the escape of the terrorists who were holding Alkadi. After that, the soldiers began to search the tunnel. Alkadi called out to them in Hebrew and they talked to make sure it was not a trap. Finally, they were able to free him safely.

Mia Schem's aunt told Walla in November that her niece had undergone surgery by a veterinarian.

Former hostage Itay Regev also reported medical mistreatment during his captivity, telling Reuters that a “frightened and sweaty doctor” removed a bullet from his leg without anesthesia.

Maya Regev, Itay's sister, had to undergo surgery to have her foot reattached following the Hamas violence on October 7. The foot was reattached, but remained at an unnatural angle and she gave her interview to Reuters in January in a wheelchair.
