Jefferson County Jail Wardens Discuss CIT Training | News

BROOKVILLE – Deputy Warden Brandon Schott spoke about a crisis intervention training that several prison officers recently attended.

He said four officers, one from each shift, recently completed the training. He said this has been offered for 10 years and they always try to send four officers to training. He said the training is designed to help inmates who are going through a crisis, whether it is outside or inside the prison. He said the training equips officers to better handle situations and deescalate them instead of letting them escalate to the next step in the continuum. Prison Director Dustin Myers said the training takes place at Penn State DuBois.
