Highway 5 southbound at Stadium Way closed after accident involving semi-trailer

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Southbound Highway 5 was closed Thursday morning after a semi-trailer crashed, leaving debris scattered across all lanes.

According to the California Highway Patrol traffic log, the accident was reported around 3:20 a.m. near Stadium Way behind the 2 Freeway.

The cause of the accident is still unclear, but the impact is said to have caused the trailer to detach from the tractor part. Boxes of French fries are said to have been among the debris.

No injuries were reported.

The lanes are expected to remain closed until about 6 a.m.
