Violent crimes down 28%, property crimes up 5.2% – Tallahassee Reports

Tallahassee Police Department crime incident data for the past four weeks shows a 28.1% decrease in violent crime compared to the same period in 2023. The data also shows a 5.2% increase in property crimes.

The combined figures show an 8.0% decrease in the total number of crime incidents in the last four-week period of 2024 compared to 2023.

TR's latest year-to-date crime comparison report showed a 6.5% decrease in total crime, with violent crime down 11.0% and property crime down 4.2%.

TR's next year-on-year comparison will be published in the first week of September.

Current trends in crime incidents

Over the last four weeks, violent crime has decreased by 28.1%. The decrease is due to a 21% decrease in assault crimes and a 30.8% decrease in robberies.

The 5.2% increase in property crimes is due to an increase in residential burglaries (11.8%) and commercial burglaries (23.5%).
