Ex-boyfriend accused of murdering pregnant Gwinnett teen gets bail and is released from prison

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – A man accused of killing a pregnant 16-year-old in July has been granted bail, according to Gwinnett County Jail records.

Jesus Monroy, 20, was released from jail early Thursday morning on $56,000 bail. He is charged with first-degree murder, premeditated murder, feticide, aggravated assault and making false statements or documents.

In the early morning of July 15, Mia Campos' family found her body in a wooded area less than a mile from her home using a cellphone tracking app. According to arrest warrants, she was lured to the neighborhood entrance and suffocated.

Monroy was arrested two days after Campos' body was discovered and charged with lying to police. He was later charged with her murder.

Campos' family says Monroy was Campos' ex-boyfriend and the father of the unborn baby.
