Due to an accident involving a semi-trailer truck and thrown French fry boxes, all southbound lanes on the 5 Freeway were closed.

LOS ANGELES – What a mess!

The southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway in the Elysian Park neighborhood of Los Angeles near Dodger Stadium were closed after an accident involving a semi-trailer truck left French fry cartons scattered on the roadway.

Video from the scene showed debris and diesel fuel spilled across the southbound lanes of the intersection near the Stadium Way exit.

The driver of the semi-trailer is expected to be fine.

According to officials, the accident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday morning; cleanup work is expected to take several hours.

A SigAlert remains in effect until at least 9 a.m.

Traffic was diverted from the Autobahn 5 collector road to Autobahn 2 heading south.
