Former UGA defensive lineman released by Atlanta Falcons

Another former Bulldog was released in the latest round of roster cuts: The Atlanta Falcons parted ways with Zion Logue before the deadline to create the NFL's 53-man roster.

Selected by the Falcons in the sixth round (No. 197 overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft, Logue had the potential to compete for a spot as a starting or bench nose tackle with his run-stuffing skills. Unfortunately, he did not make the Falcons' 53-man roster, as the Falcons are virtually full at the nose tackle position with David Onyemata and former Clemson Tiger Ruke Orhorhoro.

The Falcons recently signed Logue and former Georgia tight end John FitzPatrick to their practice squad, so Logue will continue to fight to make Sunday's active roster.

The 6'5″, 300-pound defensive lineman was a five-year mainstay for Georgia, playing in 50 games, starting 16 times and recording 52 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He was part of back-to-back national championship teams. UGA fans will see if he can find success with the Falcons or another NFL team.
