Man charged with murder after robbery victim dies – The Selma Times‑Journal

Selma police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a man who was allegedly attacked on Monday.

Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford identified the suspect as Walter Brewer, 53, who was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder. He is currently being held in the Perry County Jail on $1.2 million bail.

The case stems from a call about an assault on Monday in the 1300 block of Lauderdale Street. Officers found the male victim lying unconscious on the ground. ASAP EMS personnel treated the victim and transported him to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

“Please keep the victim’s family in mind and pray for them,” Fulford said in a press release Thursday.

Fulford did not disclose the victim's name in his statement.

The case remains under investigation by the Selma Police Department.
