Wrong-way driver in New York who killed groom first hit off-duty cop: police sources

A wrong-way driver first struck an off-duty NYPD officer before fatally crashing into groom-to-be Kirk Walker, law enforcement sources said.

According to sources, the officer called 911 after the hit-and-run crash early Saturday near Canal Street and pursued the driver's pickup truck along the West Side Highway until he lost sight of him.

Shortly thereafter, the truck collided head-on with a Dodge Challenger, killing Walker, 38, and his cousin Rob McLaurin, who were celebrating Walker's bachelor party, police and sources said.
