iPhone 16 Pro Max leak promises new Desert Titanium finish, bigger battery and advanced AI features

California-based Apple is gearing up to unveil its much-awaited iPhone 16 series at a scheduled event on September 9. The focus of this launch is expected to be the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is positioned as the flagship model in the lineup. This premium device is expected to come with the largest display and battery among its rivals. As excitement builds ahead of the official launch, an alleged dummy unit of the iPhone 16 Pro Max has surfaced online, showing what appears to be a new “Desert Titanium” color variant. This color is speculated to be a new addition to Apple's palette, although the shade seems to be slightly different from earlier expectations.

In a video shared by the TechBoiler channel on YouTube, viewers can get a quick look at an alleged dummy version of the iPhone 16 Pro Max in the alleged Desert Titanium hue. Unlike previous leaks that suggested a gold-like hue, this dummy model leans more towards a brownish finish. The design follows the aesthetic of previous Pro models and features a matte back complemented by chrome side rails.

The leaked dummy device also offers some insight into the possible design elements of the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max. In addition to the standard volume, power, and action buttons, the device appears to include a new button that is rumored to be introduced with this year's lineup. Speculations suggest that this new button could serve as a dedicated “Capture” function and improve the device's photography capabilities. On the back, the device is expected to retain the familiar triple-camera setup with LED flash.

As for the expected specifications of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, reports suggest that the device could boast a larger 6.9-inch display that could feature the narrowest bezels in the smartphone industry. It is likely to be powered by Apple's upcoming A18 Pro chipset that supports Apple Intelligence – a set of AI-powered features designed to improve the user experience.

As for the camera, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is rumored to come with an upgraded 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera that offers higher resolution than its predecessors. Additionally, the tetraprism telephoto lens introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to remain. The device could feature a 4,676mAh battery, a slight improvement over the 4,441mAh battery found on last year's model.
