Motorcyclist killed in two-vehicle crash in Terrebonne Parish, state police say

Police identified the motorcyclist as 29-year-old Garret Ellisor of Canyon Lake, Texas.

HOUMA, Louisiana – A motorcyclist was killed in a fatal two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 311 early Wednesday evening.

According to Louisiana State Police, Troop C began investigating the incident shortly before 5 p.m.

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Houma resident Roy Miller Jr. was driving his 2024 BMW X6 east on Sugar Highland Boulevard toward LA Hwy 311 at the same time the motorcyclist was traveling south on the highway.

For reasons still under investigation, the BMW disregarded the oncoming motorcycle and drove onto LA Hwy 311. As a result, the rider of the 2021 Yamaha collided with Miller's BMW.

Police identified the motorcyclist as 29-year-old Garret Ellisor of Canyon Lake, Texas.

Ellisor, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Miller was properly secured and uninjured.

According to police, Miller showed no signs of impairment and voluntarily provided a breath sample that showed no evidence of alcohol. Standard toxicology samples were collected at Ellisor and submitted for analysis.

This crash remains under investigation.
