US Marshals catch Sunbury man wanted in drug delivery case | News

SUNBURY – A Sunbury man wanted by city police since June was arrested Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Service, authorities said.

Cajun Sweitzer, 36, of South Fourth Street, was wanted for possession of illegal drugs with intent to traffic after police accused him of having nearly half a pound of methamphetamine, valued at about $16,000, at a Sunbury home, city Police Chief Travis Bremigen said.

Sweitzer was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service on Thursday morning, but Bremigen would not say where he was found and taken into custody.

The case was opened in June when police conducted an investigation that revealed Sweitzer was dealing methamphetamine from his home, the police chief said.

In June, investigators issued search warrants for the home, but the resident fled, police said.

Bremigen said police have been trying to locate him for the past few months. After his arrest, Sweitzer was arraigned before Sunbury District Judge Rachel Wiest-Benner, who ordered his detention in the Northumberland County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

“I want to thank the U.S. Marshal Service for their great work on this case,” Bremigen said Thursday, noting that the investigation is ongoing. “We appreciate their tireless efforts.”
