Investigations into second shooting this week at Kinston public housing complex underway

KINSTON, NC (WITN) – A police department in Eastern Carolina is investigating a shooting that left one person injured.

On Wednesday, just before 11:30 p.m., Kinston Police officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim in Building 15 of the Mitchell Wooten complex. When they arrived, officers found Sylvester Arrington, 36, of Kinston, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Arrington, who does not live at the complex, was initially taken to UNC Lenoir and later flown by helicopter to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment.

According to police, he is currently being treated for serious injuries.

This is the second shooting in the public housing complex in less than a week, following the death of 22-year-old Anzaryia Cobb on Sunday.
