Albany ambulance crashes on call, no crew injured

Albany Fire Department ambulance Medic 13 was struck by a single vehicle at the intersection of Geary and Pacific while responding to a medical emergency call, the Albany Fire Department (AFD) said in a news release Thursday.

On August 29 at 9:16 a.m., the ambulance with three AFD firefighters/paramedics on board was hit. All crew members are fine and no treatment was necessary.

The Albany Fire Department told us, “The only occupant of the second vehicle declined treatment at the scene.”

The AFD said they responded to seven separate emergency calls between 9:00 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. The car crash impacted the ability to respond to additional emergencies.

The Turner Fire District, Jefferson Fire District, Corvallis Fire and Lebanon Fire District were each dispatched to emergencies in Albany through the Linn and Benton counties mutual aid system.

The ambulance that crashed was no longer drivable and had to be towed away. The AFD has two medical units in its fleet to provide support.

The Linn County Sheriff is investigating the accident. We will update you with more details as we receive them.
