James Bradberry is out for 6-8 weeks due to a leg injury

James Bradberry has made it onto the Eagles' 53-man roster, but his joy will be short-lived. The former Pro Bowl cornerback and current safety will be out for almost two months due to a leg injury.

Ian Rapoport reports that Bradberry suffered a tendon injury during practice on Wednesday. The injury does not require surgery, but recovery will take 6-8 weeks.

Bradberry was added to the 53-man roster as a player and veteran that GM Howie Roseman “can rely on,” giving Philadelphia a player who can play multiple positions.

On Tuesday, general manager Howie Roseman said Bradberry's transition to safety was a smooth one and that he was kept on the roster because he is a player the team can rely on in the heat of the moment.

“James has always had really good football instincts,” Roseman said, according to the team's official transcript. “Watching him play safety here every day and his ability to diagnose his football instincts. I think for all of us, it's a transition, it's a different position than the outside corner position.

“He has a lot of ability. It's a long season. We already know he's had tremendous success in this league as a fullback as well. Given the goals we have for this football team, it was important for us to have an experienced player like him on the squad that we can rely on when he's needed.”

The 31-year-old spent his first eight seasons as an outside corner and was selected to the Pro Bowl as a second-team All-Pro in 2021 and 2022. Bradberry struggled mightily in 2023 and the Eagles regrouped, drafting two cornerbacks with their first two picks.
