Deputies respond to shooting in Le Roy, suspect in custody

LE ROY, Minn. (KTTC) – The Mower County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) believes a 31-year-old Le Roy resident may be connected to Tuesday's shooting.

Around noon Wednesday, officers responded to a call at K&H Classic Stop about a man who was allegedly intoxicated and had a handgun on his hip. According to the store employee, he was a local resident.

On the same day, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Howard County, Iowa Sheriff's Office (HCSO) notified the MCSO that the suspect's car had been found following an accident in Howard County.

Later that evening, around 11 p.m., the HCSO arrested the man.

According to MCSO, based on initial investigations, officers believe the suspect in custody may be connected to Tuesday's shooting.

The suspect's name has not yet been released.

Both incidents are still under investigation by the MCSO and HCSO.

It happened around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday in the North Everett Street area.

According to the Mower County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), officers responded to a call about shots fired. When they arrived, they found evidence in the area that confirmed the report.

No one was injured and no property damage occurred.

The MCSO currently assumes that this is an isolated case. There is no danger to the public.

According to a Facebook post from the Howard County Sheriff's Office in northeast Iowa, someone fled from a Howard County deputy. The person is now in custody.
