Thursday Night Football: Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown misses opening game against Ravens due to shoulder injury

The Kansas City Chiefs have ruled wide receiver Hollywood Brown out of Thursday's NFL opener against the Baltimore Ravens due to a shoulder injury.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Friday that Brown likely won't play after being injured in the team's first preseason game in August. Brown, 27, is playing his first season with the Chiefs after spending the past five seasons with the Ravens and Arizona Cardinals.

Brown is expected to be out for four to six weeks.

The Chiefs still have Rashee Rice, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman as options for wide receivers for quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce.

Brown signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs in March worth up to $11 million. He will miss the chance to play against his former team, the Ravens, who drafted him 25th overall in 2019.

Brown spent the last two seasons with the Cardinals, catching 51 passes for 574 yards and scoring four touchdowns, the first two of which were career lows.

All other players listed on the Chiefs' injury report this week, including defensive lineman Chris Jones and guard Joe Thuney, have been marked as full practice participants and are expected to be available.
