3 Chiefs starters who will sit on the bench this season

If you're curious to see what the Kansas City Chiefs cornerback group will look like at the start of this season, it's incredibly exciting.

At this point, Jaylen Watson could be slated to be the starter, but that could honestly change from week to week, or the Chiefs could consider wholesale changes as the season progresses.

Watson is part of Kansas City's defensive back camp in the 2022 NFL Draft, which also includes young star Trent McDuffie and fellow cornerbacks Joshua Williams and Nazeeh Johnson. All of these guys competed against each other over the course of the offseason, and I don't think the preseason brought much clarity on what both works for and against the Chiefs.

This works in their favor because the Ravens don't have a clear idea of who they're going to play. However, this doesn't work in their favor because they may not have a viable solution.

When you're as successful as Kansas City is, you have to make difficult financial decisions. The big casualty this offseason was L'Jarius Sneed. But this team has done such a great job of developing cornerbacks that they're probably going to get the benefit of the doubt here.

And while Jaylen Watson could have a phenomenal season and establish himself as a long-term option, it's just as possible that the Chiefs will look to free agency or the trade block to replace the players they currently have on the roster. In some ways, we've already seen the Chiefs prepare for such a scenario by signing former Cowboys draft pick Eric Scott Jr. to the practice squad.
