Shocking twist in disappearance of Marine Bailey Cameron, who disappeared from base

A missing Marine has reportedly been spotted twice at his base in California since he disappeared from a local bar, but his family has yet to contact him.

Lance Corporal Bailey Cameron, 23, is scheduled to leave the Marine Corps next week, but no one has been able to contact him since he was last officially spotted at the Coyote Bar and Grill in Carlsbad on August 25.

Since his disappearance, which was reported to the U.S. Marine Corps on August 26, there have been unconfirmed sightings of him on base, which the military cannot verify.

“I cannot confirm speculative sightings of the Marine on site, but our local commands remain committed to locating and contacting the Marine,” Captain James C. Sartain told Fox 5 San Diego.

Bailey was reportedly seen at an ATM at Camp Pendleton on August 28. He was spotted again on August 31.

During Saturday's sighting, which occurred around 11:30 p.m., another Marine said Bailey ran away when he was seen and showed signs of distress.

“The gentlemen we spoke to and who came into contact with him said he looked so scared and so distressed,” his mother, Juliana England, told Fox 5. “I need to know he's OK.”

“The behavior is so foreign. It's foreign compared to how we knew him before he was a Marine, and it's foreign to all the Marines here. This is not Bailey,” said his father, Kevin.

His parents said his phone, glasses and backpack were found on the curb outside Vigalucci's, an Italian restaurant about a block from Coyote Bar and Grill, but Cameron was nowhere to be seen, KGTV reported.

Cameron's father now believes he was later seen at another store in the area wearing the same clothes he was wearing when he disappeared.

“We have a photo of him after he disappeared, but there was no contact, no communication with friends or family,” Kevin told the local news station as he handed out flyers with his son's photo on Friday.

During the Aug. 31 sighting, which occurred around 11:30 p.m., another Marine said Bailey ran away when he was seen and showed signs of distress.

He admitted that Cameron did not behave normally that evening, “and that is what worries his friends and family.”

“As a father, it’s hard to think of hundreds of possible scenarios,” his father said.

“As a father, I don't care about the situation… I just need him back.”

Cameron is described as 6'1″ tall, weighing approximately 185 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and jeans.
