Hunter Woodhall wins his first Paralympic sprint gold

Hunter Woodhall, the double-amputee sprinter and one half of a Paralympic-Olympic power couple, put in an inspiring run to win gold in the T62 400-meter race at the Paris Games on Friday.

American Woodhall, who is married to Olympic women's long jump champion Tara Woodhall-Davis, ran 46.36 seconds, beating world record holder Johannes Floors of Germany, who clocked 46.90 seconds. Dutchman Olivier Hendriks came in third.

After crossing the finish line, Woodhall, 25, ran into the arms of his wife, who was standing at the track, just as she had done for him when she won the Olympic long jump title on August 8.

It was the first Paralympic title in Woodhall's career. He won a bronze medal in this discipline at the Olympic Games in Tokyo three years ago.

He had previously finished sixth in the 100 m race in the T64 class at the Olympic Games in Paris.

The Woodhalls' Instagram account, which chronicles their Olympic adventures and their lives since, has more than 580,000 followers.
